Started as Mid-Hudson Airlines in 1951 but shortly grew to operate under FAA Part 135 regulations (aircraft could not exceed 12,000 pounds but could be operated with one pilot) offering scheduled service in the Northeast. Mid-Husdon was purchased by Kingsley G. Morse who changed the name of the airline to Command Airways on July 1, 1966. On April 27, 1986 Command Air became an American Eagle operator. On September 30, 1988 American Airlines purchased and incorporated the airline as American Eagle.
